In 1977, Cyriel Demot launched this collaborative construction with Frans Houben and Mario Longhi. Today, the company is managed by Philip Demot and includes companies such as Van den Briele, Deholi, Deconstruct, Democo Poland and DMI Vastgoed.

Democo Poland is an independent player in the group, having started its activities with the construction of a new battery plant for Matsushita Battery in 1994. Today, Democo boasts sales of between 250 and 300 million euros, making it one of Belgium's wealthiest families, with assets of 65,590,000 euros. The character family and regional presence play a key role in their success.
