Founded in 1984, Aliplast began by producing insect screens before expanding its range to include windows, doors, sliding elements, wall facades and conservatories in aluminum. Now a recognized player on the international market, this Belgian aluminum profile company was acquired in 2004 by Electra Partners for the sum of 203 million euross, at which time Peter Blijweert retained a share in 15% and enabled him to have a assets of over 186 million euros.

Under a new name, Cognetas, the original entity sold Aliplast at the end of 2006 investment funds Sagard and Ergon, linked to Albert Frère, for 430 million eurosAt the same time, Blijweert sold its stake.
